HUJI Talks 2018

TED-Style Talks by Leaders in the Fields of Medicine, Science, Security and More

This year’s Board of Governors celebrated the University’s 100-year anniversary since its founding with special galas, celebrations, VIP visits, and unprecedented events.

Perhaps one of the most memorable events however was not one that incorporated fine cuisine, multimedia light shows, or dancing, but a seated affair, in good, old-fashioned academic style. At the HUJI Talks panel at the Dan Jerusalem Hotel, held on the second day of the BOG, superstar speakers convened to present highlights of their intriguing, groundbreaking research, enlightening attendees with the magnitude of their developments and the potential reach of their studies.

At this year’s lineup of HUJI Talks speakers were Professor Yuval Noah Harari, Department of History; Professor Reuven Hazan, Department of Political Science; Professor Raphael Mechoulam, Multidisciplinary Center for Cannabinoid Research, School of Pharmacy; Sergeant Johnmichael O’Hare, Hartford Real Time Crime Center, USA; Professor Orly Sade, Jerusalem School of Business Administration; Professor Idan Segev, Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences, Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences; Professor Cory Shulman, Autism Center, Paul Baerwald School of Social Work & Social Welfare; and Professor Vered Vinitsky-Seroussi, Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

Topics included cutting-edge developments in Autism research, the impact of medical marijuana, BriefCam, an innovative system improving crime surveillance, and the phenomenon of collective memory, and how it shapes our present and future.
