Transforming Nanomedicine
Partnering with the Cleveland Clinic
The Hebrew University's Faculty of Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic have joined together to develop and fund the Global Center for Transformative Nanomedicine, intended to advance nanotechnology research that has the potential to make a tremendous impact in health and medicine.

One of the research teams is focused on the microbiome, specifically a suspected connection between gut bacteria imbalances and breast cancer. Another team seeks to harness nanotechnology and stem cell therapies to treat glioblastoma, the most common and aggressive form of brain cancer. Yet another team seeks to develop new therapies and probes for malignant melanoma, a deadly disease. This collaboration will focus on cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases as well.

Nanotechnology enables doctors and other healthcare professionals to deliver medications to select sites, preventing drugs from degrading in the body before reaching targeted sites because the miniscule particles are protected.
