Dr. Nir Bar-Gill - Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Physics and the Racah Institute of Physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. HUJI Bites: Crystalizing Quantum/Diamond Brilliance/Quantum Brilliance Actress Marilyn Monroe famously declared “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” Little did she know that these precious gems would also revolutionize the future of science - specifically when it comes to Quantum Digital Computing. On this episode of HUJI Bites we paid a visit to Nir Bar-Gill at his lab on the Edmond J. Safra Campus, where he and his researchers focus on studying certain localized defects in diamonds - specifically, the Nitrogen-Vacancy (NVs) color centers. These NVs have unique and very useful quantum properties which can be utilized to build a platform for addressing various questions in physics and quantum theory.
